“There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast.” (Charles Dickens)

Throughout life we all encounter the times when shadows loom large, but there is always light. In such times we often need someone to walk beside us. I have led a life with a variety of challenging experiences, and I decided at the age of 12 to be a counselor. I never wavered from the path no matter how the shadows fell. It is my desire and passion to help others to find the light within and to be able to see it around them, overcoming their shadows.

I graduated in 2001 with a Master’s in Social Work from West Virginia University and worked as a Therapist until having children. I learned a lot of my most important life lessons  being a stay at home Mom to seven children. Last year I returned to the field, on the mental health and rehab units in the hospital setting. I enjoy working with all ages and challenges, but children and teenagers are especially close to my heart.

In my spare time you can find me hiking and/or spending time outside, with my children, with my cat or working on something creative. I also love music and usually have something playing in the background. I value using many tools in therapy, depending on the situation, but I find myself using CBT, Art Therapy and DBT the most. Life is beautiful and messy for us all, and I look forward to helping you find the light and learn to walk in it.
