Massage Therapy

You may have read or heard of the book, The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, about how trauma doesn't just impact our minds but alters our physical selves as well. You also know how stress and mood impact your body, from tension headaches to stiffness and feeling unable to relax.

Massage is a very effective way to help reduce stress, pain, and muscle tension while increasing blood flow to your muscles and availability of those feel good chemicals in your body.

Our massage therapist, Ashley, offers the following types of massage. If you aren't sure which one might be the best fit for you, she's happy to explore that with you.

Deep Tissue Therapy - A therapeutic massage designed to reach deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. Using firm pressure and slow, focused strokes, deep tissue work helps relieve chronic tension, break up adhesions, and improve mobility. Ideal for clients with persistent pain, postural issues, or muscle overuse.

Remedial Therapy - A tailored treatment approach focused on assessing and treating specific muscle dysfunctions, injuries, or chronic pain. Techniques may include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, joint mobilization, and assisted stretching. Each session is designed to restore function, relieve pain, and support rehabilitation goals.

Cupping Therapy - A traditional therapy using suction cups to lift and decompress muscles and connective tissue. Cupping helps increase blood flow, release fascia, reduce muscle tightness, and promote detoxification. Often combined with other massage techniques, it's excellent for stubborn tension and recovery support. *Note: temporary circular marks may appear on the skin.*

Hot Stone Therapy - This deeply relaxing massage combines smooth, heated stones with therapeutic touch. The warmth of the stones allows muscles to soften and release more easily, encouraging full-body relaxation, improved circulation, and stress relief. Perfect for those seeking a calming, nurturing experience.

Trauma-Informed Massage Therapy - A gentle, client-centered approach that honors the connection between emotional trauma and the body. Trauma-Informed Massage focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where touch is guided by clear communication, consent, and body awareness. Techniques are adapted to avoid triggering trauma responses, helping clients reconnect with their bodies, release stored tension, and cultivate a sense of safety and healing from emotional, physical, or psychological trauma, offering a deeply nurturing and mindful experience.
