When Change Exalts Beauty

As human beings we are constantly in a changing state, whether we intentionally choose to, or it is a natural part of our lives; change is always present. From being a baby to being an adult, going to school to then going to work, or moving out from our parents’ home to creating one of our own. All these events are natural changes that we embrace in our lives, and while it might be hard for some, these changes become just expectations in life. However, when change is a key component to maintaining healthy relationships with those who are important to us, change becomes more challenging, and it is up to us to make the decision to embark on a journey that will shape us to be a better person to those who we love.

I personally have experienced many unexpected changes throughout my life. I have lived  in three different countries, I had to learn a new language, I have lived in different homes with different values and cultural backgrounds and consequently all these experiences have shaped me into the person that I am today. In spite of all these changes, becoming a mother has been one of the most challenging changes in my life. It has helped me ponder which ways I want to impact my daughter’s life in a way that when she grows, she is a healthy person who is able to impact those who cross her path.

Being a parent is a big responsibility and getting used to the rapid changes that tiny humans make in the first few years of their lives is a big adjustment. Yet it is harder to intentionally change the negative thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors that we might struggle with to be able to model a healthier, positive, and joyful life. It takes courage to recognize that we might possess negative traits that can hinder our relationships with our loved ones. It is an act of bravery to find and accept help to make permanent changes that will transform our lives and will impact our relationships with the people in our lives. But it is important to know that it will take time, effort, and hard work to achieve our goals. Although it might be scary and at times uncomfortable, it is important to be aware of the needs of those whom we love and do our best to maintain healthy relationships that are fulfilling for both parties.

We are currently experiencing one of the most beautiful seasons of the year when tree leaves start changing color. They impact us with their beauty. I invite you to take time to examine yourself and ponder if your behaviors, thoughts, and attitudes are impacting those whom you love in positive and healthy ways. And if you find that you might want to change some of these, fill yourself with courage and seek help. Embrace yourself on a journey that will shape your life in a way that you can impact everyone around you with a life that is full of joy and beauty that reflects from the inside out like the leaves in autumn.
