Lori Peters, LPC
When it comes to something like grief, there is nothing more powerful than working with someone who completely understands what you're going through. You may be surrounded by people who don't understand why you're feeling or thinking the way you are. Maybe you feel a little crazy, lost or confused.
I get all of this because I've been there. Hi, I'm Lori, and I am a licensed professional counselor who specializes in grief and loss. I began my work into the world of grief after experiencing several personal losses, including the deaths of several family members and friends, and witnessing the pain of others. We each have a grief story, and I enjoy helping people unpack theirs. So if you have lost a loved one or you've experienced a job loss, a divorce, a relationship breakup, a life-altering health diagnosis or transition, I can help you navigate this journey.
I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. I served as a journalist for many years before moving to nonprofit work, working with individuals and families in crisis. My experience there led me to seek a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University. I worked in community mental health for a few years before transitioning to becoming a certified grief professional. Along the way, I gained extensive training in perinatal loss and maternal mental health.
Because of my professional and life experiences, I have an eclectic counseling style that includes a lot of expressive writing, cognitive, spiritual, holistic and solution-focused approaches. There is no one tried-and-true way to approach grief, so I like to use a lot of tools to help you.
When I'm not practicing therapy and spending time with my family, I am either writing, reading, walking, meditating, traveling, or watching romance movies (the "Twilight" saga and "Pride and Prejudice" are my favorites!).
I feel blessed to be given this opportunity to help you navigate your life after loss.
